The Schwartz Center for the Arts, located a few blocks from Wesley College, is holding movie nights for college students and Dover residents.
“We want to offer something to the Dover and Kent community you can’t see at the mall,” said Sandra Conner, executive director at the Schwartz Center.
Wednesdays and Sundays at 7 p.m., the Schwartz Center becomes a movie theater filled with new movies that students may not always be able to see in theaters.
There’s only one caveat.
“We’re not allowed to bring in blockbuster movies,” Conner said.
A committee carefully chooses the movies that are played each month. The committee also takes suggestions from patrons.
Conner says that the committee is especially interested in attracting college students.
“For example, ‘500 Days of Summer’ is geared towards that age group,†Conner said. “Maybe it will bring in more Wesley or DSU students.”
During October and November, the center is showing “Is Anybody There?,†“In The Loop,†and “500 Days of Summer.â€
Tickets cost $6 for students with a Wesley ID, military and seniors 65 years old and up. Standard admission in $8.
The Schwartz Center is located at 226 S. State Street. For more information, call 302-678-5152.
