BSU president Kyle Pequeno has begun to intertwine and work with black student unions from regional colleges and universities.

Repeal Delaware (a coalition devoted to the abolishment of Delaware’s capital punishment law) has approached Pequeno and the other executive board members to gain support and unification between local BSUs.

“This is important to us because of the extreme racial biasness that occurs in black offender-white victim criminal cases,” he said.

BSU also has worked with Alpha Phi Omega, the Greek community outreach group, on campus.

“We’re hoping to continue our work with APO and reach out to the newly introduced AKA [Alpha Kappa Alpha],” Pequeno said.

Alpha Kappa Alpha is a recently founded on-campus sorority that is part of the Divine Nine, a historically black Greek letter organization that makes up the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

Repeal Delaware also has a Facebook group and a Twitter feed.
