Wesley’s contemporary ensemble performed in front of more than 30 people at the Loockerman Exchange (the LEX) Nov. 4.

“I think it was nice,” said junior Bianca Bailey, an ensemble member. “I didn’t think there was going to be that many people. I was very nervous.”

Bailey said the choir has been practicing since the start of the semester.

“This was our second performance,” she said.

They had nearly a month to practice the new songs for this performance.

Senior Marvin Bond said he enjoyed the performance.

“It showcased a lot of talent,” he said. “Including the instruments and singing. Everything went well.”

Bond also said he would like to see more of the ensemble’s performances.

Senior Keeyana Talley said she enjoyed her first experience with the choir.

“It was good,” she said. “I want to see more concerts.”

She said her favorite song was Bailey’s solo, “Chain of Fools.”

“I think they did great,” said Debra Hancock, mother of Nick Hancock, who played guitar. “They always do well. We’ve never missed a concert in all four years of college.”

Hancock said she didn’t think her son was nervous about the performances.

“He just has fun,” she said.

Dr. James Wilson, director of choirs at Wesley, said he wished the LEX had given the choir more than one hour for the performance.

“They didn’t give us enough time,” he said. “We did the most with the time we had.”

Ensemble Choir is available as a one-credit class for all students, listed as MU 118.

“All are welcome,” Wilson said. “It boosts a GPA and it’s a fun course.”
