Freshman Sam Serio attended the pep rally on Oct. 7 to represent the football team along with his fellow players.
“It was different than my high school pep rally,†said the JV defensive tackle. “It was interesting to stand up in front of the whole community.â€
On stage, the players on the football team revved up the 100-plus crowd for support and encouragement for their Homecoming game battle against Frostburg State the next day, which they won.
“There were so many football players, and we had to wait and wait for them all to be called,†said freshman Debra Glotta.
Howl at the Moon helped by donating trinkets to the event, including free “silly bandz,†bracelets made of rubber that are shaped into figures. The bracelets included a W, a wolverine head and a paw print.
The stage crew, which also included Howl at the Moon members, threw out free glow sticks, air dart guns and candies.
“I really liked when they threw the little guns,†Glotta said. “I got one, but I didn’t really know what to do with it, so I gave it to a friend. Still, it was really cool.â€
Glotta enjoyed the step team’s performance the most.
“My friend is on the team and they were all on time, ready,†she said. “Nobody really messed up and they were just good.â€
