The Office of Residence Life is currently reviewing Resident Assistant applications for next fall.
“The Office of Residence Life is looking for candidates who want to be prestigious leaders on campus†said Assistant Director of Residence Life Amanda Kinkade.
In order to qualify for the position, the applicant must have at least a 2.5 GPA and be committed to complete all the responsibilities and duties required of them.
Those who fit the criteria are interviewed by professional staff members who include graduate assistants. The final selection is made by Director of Residence Life Kevin Hansbury.
As a Resident Assistant, the student has many responsibilities, including looking out for the security of residents, representing the office of Residence Life, and upholding the student code of conduct.
“They have to live and act as a role model and be a resource to peers,†Kinkade said.
Selected applicants go through intensive training to teach them how to perform daily tasks and handle emergencies.
Resident Assistants also receive a monthly stipend for their work and receive waived or discount housing depending on where they live.
Resident Assistants who live in Gooding, Williams, Carpenter or Roe halls have their housing fees waived; those who reside in Malmberg and Zimmerman receive discount housing.
