Yoga classes will continue this semester.

Breathing techniques, warm up poses, relaxation and meditation will be covered Tuesday nights in CC206 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Certified instructor Carol Leister, who has been teaching for 24 years and practicing for 33, teaches the classes.

The number of students who come fluctuates each week, but she says she likes teaching at Wesley.

“The kids are so sweet,” Leister said. “One man that came last semester raised his hand in the middle of the class and asked if he could be excused, rather than walking out and disturbing the class.”

Freshman Meranda Merritt says yoga helps her a lot.

“It’s a great stress reliever,” she said. “Especially the relaxation method at the end of it.”

Brittany Brown, also a freshman, agrees.

“It’s very peaceful here,” she said. “I always wanted to try a yoga class. Now that I have, I’m going to keep doing it.”

Students have to be committed to get yoga’s full benefits, Leister said.

“Yoga can relax you or energize you,” she said. “It all depends on what you want out of it and then stick to it.”

Any students can attend, and is advised to wear comfortable, stretchy clothes. Mats are provided, but it is recommended to bring a blanket.
