The Wesley campus was alive with music on Thursday, Oct. 2 as Homecoming weekend began with a Pep Rally.
The Pep Rally was held in the Amphitheatre and had a professional DJ. He opened with a dance competition, and winners were awarded with T-shirts.
After the competition, the Homecoming Court candidates were introduced.
The pep rally included a Velcro wall, wax hands, Henna tattoos, Corn Hole, Frisbee, and a performance by the Wesley Diamonds.
Delta Phi Epsilon was also in attendance to spread awareness on Suicide and Alcohol Prevention Week.
A fashion show was held that day, which raised money for admissions.
Many who attended said they had a good time.
“I’ll come back,†said senior Laura Vargas. “It’s Homecoming and I’m excited to see Homecoming next year.â€
She said she will return after she graduates for more pep rallies and Homecoming games.
Despite the cancelation of the Homecoming parade on a rainy Oct. 4, Wesley alumnus William Britt said he was excited about Homecoming.
“I looked forward to seeing the bands in the street,†he said.
Freshman Jacinda Sicari said she was disappointed about there not being a dance.
“I think that sucks. It seems like a cool idea, everyone getting dressed all fancy,†she said
Sophomore Ben Martin, a football player, was positive the team was going to win the game. He was also disappointed about not havng a dance.
“I don’t like it because it’s a time for us to unite,†he said.
During the pep rally, from 7-9 p.m., students talked and danced with roommates and friends. Students stood patiently in long lines for the Henna tattoo stand as well as the privilege to stick to the Velcro wall.
In addition to the pep rally, the fashion show, and the side entertainment, students were able to vote for their Homecoming kings and queens from each class.
