Although their 4-8 record may not show it, the Wesley College Women’s lacrosse team has some nationally-ranked players.
The team started off strong, winning their first game against Merchant Marine Academy 19-5. Team members started racking up the statistics after that.
Junior Rylee Gould leads the conference with 35 assists, making her No. 1. She also is ranked No. 4 in the conference for goals scored.
“It feels good because I don’t usually get a lot of recognition, but I saw myself getting closer and closer up the list and now that I finally got there I want to keep it,” Gould said. “I wanted to be a leader on the field and set other people up for success as well.â€
The team has two games left, April 16 and 19, and has a 4-8 record.
At the end of the season the team will be losing five seniors; Kirsten Ward, Jorden Lutz, Alyse Obermeyer, Alexandra Barbieri and Elizabeth Groom.
The Wolverines hosted a senior game for the players on April 13 against Frostburg State.
Jorden Lutz broke a Wesley record with most ground ball pick-ups per game with 12.
“I didn’t even realize it happened until after the game when Steve Kramer told me,” Lutz said. “I was excited, it isn’t something you think about while you’re playing.â€
