Academic Resources Aren’t Reliable Enough for Students Success.

Every day students are told to stay on top of their academics by their peers, professors and families.
Without the resources open to accomplish their work, students say succeeding becomes difficult.
“The library and The ARC (Academic Resource Center) hours on the weekends are awful,†said freshmen Avery Covington. “The ARC should be available to students on weekends just like it is on weekdays.â€
Students complain that the library should open earlier on weekends.
“The weekends hours for the library hold me back,†said sophomore Chelsea Billups. “I rather get my work done earlier that having to wait and stay up late.â€
“I make decisions about the hours based on the assessments that I do, head counts, door counts are important to me,” said Library Director Jessica Olin.

Some students think the hours are reasonable for both employees and students.
“I think the ARC and Library hours are long enough for the students to get their work done and for the employees to get hours,†said freshmen De’Aira Harper.
Student athletes, who also have sport schedules to meet, said they often are unable to get to their school work until after hours.
“Being that I am a Student-Athlete here at Wesley, I think the library and the ARC should be open later for us because of practices and classes,†said freshmen Javed James.
24-hour library would make a lot of students happy. “A library that does not close is a perfect and great investment for the students,†Covington said.
“The library should be open for 24 hours, in my opinion,†Billups said. “But I do not have a problem with the hours now on the weekdays.â€
