Danielle Reid, a sophomore majoring in Media Arts, has a passion for photography. She says she wants to travel the world and capture its moments.
“Since last year, I have been talking to Elizabeth Wallace and Susan Zhan at the international program office to learn more about the study abroad program in Lithuania.,†she said.
Reid is one of several students taking advantage of Wesley international program, which also has recruited 21 international students through its study abroad program.
The office, in the basement of Parker Library, is small but filled with posters and pictures, and is constantly running slideshow of pictures and videos of students who have studied abroad.
“It was very informative but it was a real surprise to learn about the service they provide,†Reid said.
She said she believes the program does not do enough marketing to the student body.
“The international programs office is steadily growing and has been picking up since my time here,†said Katherine “Kat†Brossard, a graduate student working as an international admissions advisor. “I hope that Wesley student appreciate the growing diversity on campus and try to get to know the students that are visiting our campus. “
Senior Junior Billup, an exercise science major, agrees with Reid that students need to be more aware of the international program.
“I did not know that there were international students that go here,†he said.
Susan Zhan, an exchange student who majors in business, works as a study abroad advisor.
“This is a mutual benefit for Wesley students,†she said. “The international group adds lots of colors to Wesley. In the meantime, every trivial word Wesley students say, every activity they do, it’s all life experiences for them.â€
