Tim Courtney was going to the trunk of his girlfriend’s red Saturn when they saw it aimed directly at them.

The sophomore resident of Malmberg Hall was parked on Governor’s Ave. directly across from his dorm, when the driver of an SUV pointed a handgun at him while fleeing west on Division Street, heading toward New Street with two other men.

Courtney said one of the passengers was wearing a red hat.

He did not want to comment on the incident. He said he just wants to put it behind him.

Sophomore Evan Collotti, Courtney’s roommate, was in the room when Courtney and his girlfriend returned shaken after the incident.

“I had no idea what was going on,” he said. “When he told me, I was shocked. I knew this wasn’t the best neighborhood, but that is pretty scary.”

Courtney’s girlfriend, a non-Wesley student, was in the driver’s seat when she saw the SUV driving by and the man in the driver’s seat reach down, pull out what appeared to be a handgun, reach across the man in the passenger seat and point the gun at them both as he drove past.

It happened just after 9 p.m. on Feb. 15. Dover Police responded.

Director of Safety and Security Walt Beaupre said the incident was unfortunately not caught on any of the campus security cameras.

There has been no further progress in the investigation.
