http://atheltics.wesley.edu/Wesley’s field hockey team finished the season with a 12-10 record, losing in the ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) Mid-Atlantic quarterfinals.

However, the Wolverines finished the regular season with a win over rival Salisbury University and sent the team’s seven seniors out on a high note.

Senior forward Tristin Burris said they had only beaten Salisbury twice and she is thankful she got to be a part of both wins.

“While it would have been nice to go out with a championship,” she said, “I will settle for beating our biggest rival Salisbury for the second time in our history.”

Senior midfielder Jessica Franklin echoed her teammate on the importance of beating their rival.

“It was great to beat Salisbury again,” she said. “The chemistry and bonds we had as a team were closer than in years past.”

Head Coach Tracey Short spoke highly of all of her seniors.

“All seven seniors contributed throughout their four years and we are going to miss them on the field and in the locker room,” she said.

Burris said that she has really enjoyed her time as a Wolverine.

“It has been both a pleasure and privilege to play with these seniors for the past four year,” Burris said. “I look at the returners and recognize how much talent will be returning and the promising seasons they have ahead of them.”

Junior midfielder Madison Leone won several awards at the end of the season, including CAC co-player of the year and 2nd team all-American honors.

Short said that she is proud of the awards that Leone has won this year.

“Madison is a very unique field hockey player,” Short said. “She is gifted and works hard to better herself.”

Leone said that her awards are a reflection of the team’s success and not just her own.

“The co-player of the year was an accomplishment for me, although I wouldn’t be anywhere without the rest of my team,” Leone said. “I can’t wait to see what next year brings in my senior year.”
