“Allo Mate!!!

As they say here in UK. For those who do not know fully, I am Jasmine Oden and I am working on my 3rd year as a Psychology major in Chester. It’s a historical, friendly and cozy town.

University of Chester has been by far the best. I’ve only stayed here for a week about and have been greeted royalty.

I now have new friends from all over the world, include France, Portugal, Germany, Spain, London, Utopia, India, China, Japan, Nigeria, and Australia!

My roommate is actually from Australia, which is quite awesome! At times, we both have to ask each other to repeat ourselves because we can’t understand each other’s accents.

I have now gotten used to how they talk here. For example, most people here in the UK say rubbish (trash), willies (rain boots), and they say fast “ya right” (Are you okay?)

Luckily, I have not started my modules (classes) yet. Oct. 1 is the first day of classes at my uni (university). Although, they have set up my timetables (schedule) and I found out recently that I have 6 classes, which is a lot to take on here. The curriculum is harder than the US because, even though we do not have pop quizzes or many tests, there is an exam or group presentation that all students have to do at the end of the term (semester) that is more than 50% of your grade!

They also say that attendance or participation does not count to make our grade go higher which differs than the US.

As far as the people that I’ve encountered, it seems that they are more down to earth and polite here. Everyone talks to everyone. You can sit down at a table by yourself and people will randomly come and make themselves comfortable and chat with you. I feel like I make a friend daily.

Partying… well let me say that they go HARD!!! Don’t ask me how I know… Haha, but it’s like a ritual here though.

My first couple of days since I’ve been here, I have already traveled to Liver Pool and will be attending North Wales!!! Like Mr. Cullen and Elizabeth Wallace say, make sure you travel and see the world around you since it’s only a train ticket away!

I am also now planning a day to visit a good friend of mine, Lilas, who  was an International student last semester from France. We will try and visit Rome together!

But that’s about it for now !!! Stay tuned for my next article!!! Stay Blessed!!!
