Wesley security had gotten a picture a student had taken of Dominique Dennis tattooing a client; the picture found its way into the hands of another student, who handed it over to security.
Some students also reported they had heard the sound of a tattoo gun coming from Dennis’ room.
Word got out fast that security was looking for Dennis, so he avoided going to his room until early morning hours.
“The main reason I was doing tattoos was just to make some extra spending money,†Dennis said. “When I found out that security was looking for me, I knew that it was just a matter of time before they caught up with me.â€
Security went into his room in Malmberg Hall’s second floor but only Dennis’ roommate and another student were there playing a video game. Security questioned the students, but didn’t find anything.
After finding Dennis in College Center, security questioned him and forced him to turn in all of his equipment.
“I understand that taking all of my equipment was part of me getting in trouble, but the way security busted in my room unannounced was a complete invasion of privacy,†Dennis said.
A couple of students got their tattoos done by Dennis and they also recommended others to him.
Wesley College sophomore Jaron Wellington was a client of Dennis’s and he had intentions on going back for more tattoos.
“I felt comfortable with him giving me tattoos,†Wellington said. “It was convenient so I really thought nothing of it.â€
Some students at Wesley knew about what was happening, but said nothing about it.
Sophomore Davone Davidson lives on the same floor as Dennis.
“I’m pretty sure people knew about what was going on, but I look at it as somebody just trying to make money,†Davidson said. “Security was going around with a picture asking people who lived in Malmberg if they knew who the people were in the photo.â€
While Dennis is currently waiting for his hearing, he is still allowed to attend all of his classes and live in his dorm room.
