Complete with water slides and many students in bikinis, the Beach Bash gave something for many students to do to cool off on one of the last hot summer days in August.
Everyone on Aug. 22 received leis (a Hawaiian garland) and partied to the music played by “The Drummer and The DJ,†a combination of a drummer and DJ who lives in England.
Students danced on the amphitheater stage and ate cotton candy, snow cones and nachos.
The Student Activities Board (SAB) put together the event.
President Chris Fucetola and Vice President Jessica Curry-Keith were enjoying the festivities, while making sure everything ran smoothly.
“It is a good turnout,†Fucetola said. “It is better than last year because of the beautiful weather, even though it was a call for a hurricane.â€
Curry-Keith also said the weather helped for a great turnout.
“The weather played a great part and a lot more people showed up,†she said.  “The warm weather was a blessing. The courses and slides are a lot of fun and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.â€
There were six different inflatables that included two water slides, an obstacle course and a basketball hoop.
Some people said they were fascinated by the DJ.
“The DJ is the best thing by far,†said junior Gloria Ogunleye. “ I am having a great time and I am glad that there are a lot of other things to do other than the water slides because I did not want to get wet.â€
There also was a dance contest where people were allowed to “show their stuff.â€
“[SAB] will have many more events,†said Evita Wade, SAB adviser. “The events will all be fun and exciting so look out for them. We are here to ensure that the students have a fun and safe time.â€
