Wesley College celebrated its 3rd annual Monte Carlo Night sponsored by Student Affairs in the Wentworth Gym on Friday, Aug 24.
Students were handed $50,000 worth of chips to play casino games at blackjack, poker, and Russian roulette tables.
“We wanted to officially welcome our new students to Monte Carlo Night,†said head of Student Affairs Ladarius Thompson. “Tonight was definitely a success and we had a great outcome. I am excited for next year’s Monte Carlo Night.â€
Students turned in their chips to collect tickets, which allowed them to place bids for school supplies, snacks, and an Xbox Kinect at the end of the night.
“I absolutely loved Monte Carlo this year, because there were more things to do and more people came out to support the faculty,†said junior Chea Sloh. “It was really nice meeting and spending time with new students.â€
One of the highest winners of the night came from the poker table.
“I had a guy leave the table with over $200,000 worth of chips,†said Professor Nicolai, the dealer for Texas Hold’Em. “I had a fantastic time here.â€
Most students enjoyed the casino games Monte Carlo Night had to offer.
“I really had a fun time tonight and there was nothing I would’ve changed about it,†said freshman Candice Mitchell.
Other students suggested ways Monte Carlo Night could’ve been better.
“I loved Monte Carlo Night this year,†said sophomore Tyona Kinlaw. “I would’ve added more games from the previous year since there was more space in the Gym.â€Â Sophomore Jasmine White agrees.
“I liked Monte Carlo Night this year, but last year it was better,†she said. “I liked when the location was in the Den because the lighting made you feel as if you were in a real casino.â€
