Wesley College Men’s Soccer team crushed Washington College 4-1 Oct. 18.

As soon as the game started, Washington College took a shot on goal, but goalie Brian Zuber made his only save of the game.

The Wolverines scored nearly 10 minutes later off the foot of senior Chris Phillips, his first goal of the season.

Wesley didn’t score again until near the end of the first half, when freshman Danny Ramirez hit the ball with head to junior Joshua Chelleh, who kicked in the goal.

But two fouls gave Washington College a free kick, which they converted into a goal.

In the second half, Chelleh scored his second goal of the day. Phillips scored Wesley’s final goal.

“First two goals of the season, yeah very excited,” Phillips said after the game. “I feel like the team is coming together.”

Chellah wasn’t as excited about the victory because it wasn’t a conference game.

“I feel it was a practice game,” he said, but he was excited about the next contest with University of Mary Washington.

“We know we need to get better,” said Coach Steven Clark. “We know to keep getting better. We’re defending very well. We just need to connect better with our passes.”
