More than two dozen students performed in front of a packed Schwartz Center at the college’s annual variety show Oct. 8 to wrap up Homecoming weekend.

Performances included singers, musicians and dancers – and a rowdy and receptive audience.

“I think it went very well,” said Alex Osborne, a sophomore who helped to run the main curtain.

Performers included the New Era Dance Team, the Diamond Step Tea, and many singers. Some of the singers included Brittany Anthony, Chris Hansberg, J-Man and Robert Price. Joe College also performed as a rapper.

Popular songs performed included “Rolling in the Deep,” by Wesley Dessesow, “Girls Rule the World,” by Marvin and the Marvin Dancers, “Season of Love” by the Wesley choir, and “You and I” by Bianca Bailey.

Sophomore Kirshay Bowser also sang.

“I feel that I performed pretty well,” Bowser said. “All of my friends and family were there to encourage me.”

Bowser got a lot of feedback.

“One of my professors, Dr. Wilson, told me that this was my best performance ever,” she said. “So many students have given me positive feedback and I am grateful.”

This was Bowser’s first variety show, and now wants to perform in future shows.

One faculty member said she liked the audience’s energy.

“There was a high level of energy displayed by all of the performers,” said Ann Rogge, director of counseling services. “The emcees were very reasonable and the audience really responded to them.”

Rogge said her favorite performance was the College Choir, singing “Seasons of Love.”

“I love the song itself, but [it was] also because of how well they performed it.”

This year was Rogge’s first variety show.
