Everyone raised the roof when the Dj started playing their favorite songs. Wesley student Carl Parker led the crowd in partying.
Nearly 200 students came out for Wesley’s first Homecoming dance in two years, “Lights, Camera, Action!†in Dulany Hall, Oct. 6.
Music, ice cream, and photos also were available to students for the $5 admission.
“Everybody who came out is in here enjoying themselves and having a good time,†said Joseph Perez, coordinator of marketing for students with the student activity board. “We have a live DJ and free Dippin’ Dots.â€
Perez said he ate seven dishes of the ice cream.
Students teamed with the student activity board to bring back the dance.
“We pretty much started planning this dance the first few weeks of September into the 2010-2011 school year,” said sophomore Brandon Swaby. “It’s the first dance of the school year and we’re all hoping it’s going to be a great turn out so we can have future dances.â€
Evita Wade, graduate assistant of student activities, believes the success of this year’s Homecoming dance should encourage the school to hold future dances.
“At this event, I am checking people in and making sure everything is run smoothly,†she said. “We’re trying to open the door for more dances offered here at Wesley and just have an exciting Homecoming overall for students.â€
Wade said she was just as excited as the students.
“This year I believe we had a great turn out,†she said. “We had a photo booth, light show and other fun stuff for students to do. Everybody was so excited for this year’s homecoming dance.â€
Students are excited Wesley gave its homecoming dance a second chance.
“This is the first time Wesley has had a homecoming dance since my freshman year back in 2009,†said junior Brandon Wright. “Everybody really thought that last year’s homecoming would have a dance, but we didn’t.â€
Wright said he is glad the dance is back.
