Students flooded into Wells Theater on Oct. 5 for the comedy show by Erin Jackson and Tony Baker.
Jackson and Baker came to Wesley as a part of NBC’s Stand-up for Diversity program, which for eight years has trawled the country for comedians. Some of the winners perform at college campuses.
Jackson said she has been doing stand-up comedy for nearly a decade and has appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
She grew up in New Jersey, but recently moved back in with her parents in the Washington D.C. area.
She talked to students about dating advice, including how no one can get between her and her love for football.
Baker talked about addiction to cell phones. Every time he saw a cell phone, he would call that person out and ask what they just tweeted or texted.
“It was hilarious,†said sophomore Nicole Adams.
Baker told the students how he loves Twitter, but cannot stand people who do not think before writing on their Twitter.
“The comedian made me laugh so hard, I got an abs workout,†said sophomore Derek Mulholland.
Baker told the crowd it wasn’t a good thing to have dimples in his neighborhood.
“I can’t smile in the ‘hood,†Baker said, saying he has to hold in his smile because he didn’t want his dimples to show.
He also talked about insects.
“Bugs should have eyelids,†Baker said.
He continued to say that if bugs had eyelids, then we wouldn’t kill them as much because everyone loves something that can make sad eyes and blink.
Senior Christina Moye enjoyed the show.
“It was a great stress reliever from class, and really funny.â€
