Alpha Phi Omega and Inter Greek Council is going green this spring.
Alpha Phi Omega Chaplain Erica Brown organized a spring clean up to help the community look better by removing trash off the streets of Dover March 26.
Last minute changes left Rebecca Marion, a graduating senior and American Studies major, in charge of the event.
“Due to Chaplain Erica Brown being ill, myself and Jessica Barranco were placed in charge to make sure things went smoothly,†she said.
Students showed their support.
“I would say we had a total of about 20 people come out,†Marion said. “Alpha Phi Omega brought a nicely sized group, as well as other members of the campus.â€
Fifteen bags of trash were collected.
“We picked up trash from Mary Street down to Loockerman, and then in between State and Governor Street,†Marion said.
Although spring cleanup lasted a few hours, Alpha Phi Omega and others gained something special from the experience.
“I believe a sense of pride in our community was gained from this year’s spring cleanup, which wouldn’t have been possible if everyone who came out didn’t participate,†Marion said.
