After the Founder’s day release of the branding and marketing project, several students said they felt it was a vast improvement.
The project was funded by the Jessie Ball DuPont Fund, which gave Wesley $113,150 to create a new slogan, website, advertisements and logo.
The result so far is a slogan that reads “Great Things Await†and an updated website format. The logo is not yet finished.
Freshman Asia Addison said she feels the new slogan will draw in prospective students.
“It’s a great way to get future students to explore our school and all its opportunities,†Addison said.
The Division of Institutional Advancement gave no comment as to how the grant money was split up among the projects, but Senior Evita Wade believes that the website is a major improvement.
“The website we have now is out-dated; this new website is more modern looking and organized,†Wade said.
Freshman Peepise Maeshack agreed.
“I like the new website a lot more,†Maeshack said. “It’s much more student friendly and visually appealing. The slogan fits the school perfectly.â€
“I really like the new website, the colors are appealing and it looks better,†freshman Jomcara Marshall said.
But she was not as happy with the slogan.
“I don’t really like the slogan because it gives prospective students high expectations of Wesley, she said. “They might come here and through their personal experiences, they might not see it that way.â€
Others agreed with Marshall.
“The slogan shows students that it is a great thing to get a college education, but it depends on their experiences if they think the same about Wesley,†Eghosa Ugiagbe said, a sophomore.
Freshman Ksahay Williams said the slogan was misleading and ambiguous.
“It doesn’t cover all aspects of Wesley and when students get here they might be disappointed,” Williams.
The new advertisements and logo have not been released to students, but the website will be replaced over the summer break personal experiences, they might not see it that way.†Others agreed with Marshall. “The slogan shows students that it is a great thing to get a college
