Shooting
A 23-year-old man was shot March 15 while hanging out in the first block of South New Street, a block from the Wesley College campus, police said.
The suspect, described as a black man with a beard and wearing a black sweat shirt, approached the man and shot him twice, once in the stomach and once in the leg.
The shooter is being sought on charges of second-degree assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The victim was treated at Kent General Hospital.
Home Invasion
Tysheed Cooper, 18, of the 100 block of South Governors Boulevard, was arrested after he and another person broke into a home in the 300 block of West Division Street on March 23.
Cooper and his accomplice grabbed the 26-year-old woman and stole her cell phone, police said.
Two children were also home.
Cooper was arrested by Dover Police on Loockerman Street, where he was found to be in possession of a black pellet hand gun.
Assault
A woman was robbed and assaulted behind WT Smither’s restaurant in the State Street alley on March 18, said Dover police.
The woman was talking to a friend when “two females ran up behind her, punched her and stated give up the purse,†police said.
She refused, and the two women assaulted her until she did and then fled, dropping the purse after being pursued by two witnesses.
When the woman got her purse back, she found that her cell phone, keys and money were missing.
Both women were black, police said. One stood about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a heavy build; the other was about 5 feet 7 inches and thin.
