Spring commencement’s time has changed to 1:30 p.m. May 7 because of the Dover Days parade. It was originally set to begin at 10:30 a.m.

Also, the school announced that Gov. Jack Markell will be commencement speaker.

“We were made aware that the Dover Days parade was scheduled the same time as graduation,” said vice president of academic affairs Dr. Patricia Dwyer. “And we didn’t think it be helpful for students and their parents to negotiate a lot of frustration.”

Dwyer hopes the rescheduling will prevent too much traffic.

“We expect it to be a real nice celebration of the graduates earning their degrees here at Wesley and their families support,” said Dwyer. “Governor Jack Markell will be speaking this year at graduation.”
