She was born to do it.

Comedian Jen Kober gave Wesley students a night filled with laughs as she took the stage in the Wells Theater on Feb. 16.

“She was funny as hell,” said freshman Randy Baisden. “I really enjoyed her performance and she should definably come again because that was the best comedy show Wesley ever had.”

Originally a small town girl from Louisiana, Kober always had big jokes.

“I was always funny as a little kid,” said Kober. “It was the only thing I was good at.”

Featured on Comedy Central, HBO’s dramatic series Treme, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Kober puts her 12 years of experience to use.

“My life is where I get the material for my jokes,” said Kober. “Well at least the funny part of it.”

Students gave Kober a standing ovation at the end of her performance.

“I would rate her five stars,” said freshman Brad Emory. “She made me laugh so hard tears dropped from my eyes.”

Freshman Keith Robinson was left with one word after the show was over, “Phenomenal.”

Using her famous punch lines, “Delicious” and “Eat this, skinny bitch,” Kober filled Wells with laughs.

“I just want my audience to have a good time and forget about everything that’s bothering them,” Kober said. “But most importantly to have a good night of laughs.”

Currently living in Los Angeles, Kober creates new material for upcoming shows and travels the world performing.

Kober also will be appearing in Treme’s, to begin airing in April.

Students in Wesley’s National Association for Campus Activities found out about Kober.

“We first heard about Jen at our NACA national’s convention,” said sophomore and music chair Shannon Walker.

Walker was put in charge of planning the event.

“It wasn’t hard to book her,” said Walker. “Since we went to NACA we had first dibs on her.”

Kober took pleasure in Wesley Audience.

“Jen liked Wesley a lot,” Walker said. “She said we were a good crowd and she enjoyed our participation.”

After spring break, Walker, along with other members of the Student Activity Board, is planning more events for March.

“Our next major event is on March 26,” said Walker. “We will be heading to Washington D.C. for the excursion of the cherry blossom festival.”
