It took a year but they did it.
Wesley College’s Theta Phi Alpha became a national chapter Jan. 16, after a year-long probationary period.
As a chapter, the girls learn more about their organization than they did on probation, when they were called a colony, said sophomore Erica-Rae Hansen, a sister of the fraternity.
To reach this, the organization had to perform community service and write their chapter by-laws.
“We had to fund-raise for our colony,†Hansen said. “Either for the Glenmary Home Missioners or the house that TPA built.â€
For the induction ceremony, the national president came from Nebraska to officiate the event at the Maple Dale Country Club, said Dr. William Johnston, president of Wesley.
Twenty-five students were inducted, he said. “This is a significant event for our students.â€
