Students have been going through $1,200 worth of coins each week since the arrival of the Underground’s new coin machine.
“The new coin machine has become such a high traffic area on campus,†said Sarah Smith, director of student activities. “The first week we filled up the coin machine, we put $700 worth of coins in, and by Monday it was empty.â€
The Student Government Association bought the machine at the beginning of the year to provide students coins to do their laundry.
The machine is big enough to hold three times more coins than the old one. The school gets the coins weekly from Wilmington Bank.
