The first time I walked down Loockerman Street, it was the first week of school and summer was still in the air. It gave me the feeling that I was in this cozy Pleasantville world.
I didn’t get to explore as much as I wanted to but all the different cafes and little restaurants caught my eye and made me think I will definitely take a break from Dulany Hall and come here for some food.
The street is perfect for family, friends and, most importantly, college students, to take a break from the real world and shop around in family-owned shops to find quirky and unique clothes. Even though it sounds odd, the army and navy store has all types of fun and weird things to look at it if you are looking for something to do on a free day. A friend and I went to the store and he brought a pair of army boots for $15.
One thing that grabbed my attention was that there are a couple different hair salons. It showed that Dover is diverse and caters to everyone that comes down the street. It also has a women’s boutique and an urban style store with all different types of funky sneakers and clothes. What else can I find on this street?
It’s all about finding new things and having experiences in your new town that you will be living in for the next few years.
Loockerman Street made me feel like I was back in my suburban hometown – café tables outside and people walking their dogs. Not only does Wesley give me a mood that I’m back in high school with the small campus in a good way, but Dover in general gives me the feeling that I’m not just another college student, but I actually have a voice and can be heard here with a humble and secure feel.
