September 13 marked the start of the two-week recruitment process for Wesley students who want to pledge a fraternity or a sorority called Meet the Greeks.

“This year we want Greek life to come together as a community,” said Erica Hansen, president of Inter Greek Council.

During the two weeks, candidates will attend student events around campus, including a volleyball game, game night, improv night, and a pep rally on Sept. 17.

Zeta Phi Beta and Kappa Alpha Psi, both nationally African American organizations, are looking to start chapters at Wesley.

The sisters from Delaware State University’s chapter of Zeta Phi Beta attended Meet the Greeks to recruit members.

“I’m looking forward to expansion,” said Ashley Travis , coordinator of Greek life. “There will be more opportunities for the young men and women at Wesley.”

All Greek organizations participate in community service projects.

Wesley’s Alpha Phi Delta fraternity was awarded “Outstanding Chapter of the Country” by its national organization.

Wesley’s chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority was re-chartered last semester.

Phi Kappa Sigma is the sixth oldest fraternity in the world and won best fraternity last year at Wesley.

Theta Phi Alpha sorority formed from Wesley’s former local sorority Sigma Phi Sigma last year.

“We would prefer to firm up the Greek community, and give them a good foundation before we keep expanding,” said Sara Smith, the Director of Student Activities.
