The Wolfman’s computer-generated images helped make up for a weak story.

Starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins, the movie is a remake of the 1941 film that starred Lon Chaney, Jr.

Del Toro plays Lawrence Talbot, who becomes the Wolf Man.

The new movie begins mysteriously, with the murder of Talbot’s brother.

It seems as if a large animal had mauled his brother, so Talbot first goes to the gypsies who have a bet bear.

But as soon as he gets there and finds some clues to his brother’s mysterious death, he is attacked by a werewolf.

The transformation sequences from man to wolf are great: one can hear bones cracking and see them realigning as shoes become tattered pieces of leather.

Although the story was weaker than expected, it should help give momentum to the werewolf, after the recent beating it’s gotten from the vampire-mad Twilight series, where it was made to look like nothing more than a puppy.

The sexual frustration in the film between Talbot and his late brother’s wife should keep you on the edge of your seat to see if a romance will blossom.

Fans of old-fashioned monsters will not be disappointed by this film.
