Many students feel spring break – scheduled for the first week in March – comes too early, especially when other colleges have theirs later in the month.
“It’s way too early,†said junior Carri Niblett. “It’s hard for me to plan trips with friends at other schools because most people have spring break during Easter.â€
Many do not feel the need to get in shape for Wesley’s spring break because they will be relaxing at home, not going on vacation.
“I don’t think people are trying to get in shape for spring quite yet,†Niblett said. “Especially since most people are snowed in on a weekly basis. It’s hard to get to the gym or exercise outside.â€
Instead of working out to prepare for spring break, junior Rachel Bozarth plans on using the extra time to get in shape for the summer.
“I haven’t been doing much because of classes,†Bozarth said. “I’ve actually been pretty lazy, but I plan to start working out soon.â€
Many students think it is important to stay in shape throughout the year, rather than practicing active and stagnant habits as the seasons change.
“I think people should be conscious of their health,†said freshman Jessica Holden. “They should take care of their bodies all of the time. Diets are just lazy if you’re not keeping up with it.â€
Niblett agrees.
“As an exercise science major, I think it’s extremely important to stay in shape and maintain a healthy lifestyle,†she said. “Eating healthy and exercising gives life a new meaning.â€
Despite the early spring break, students are still looking forward to it.
“We do get out of school in April,†Niblett said. “It’s a midway mark for the semester.â€
