Wally the Wolverine may retire as Wesley’s mascot.
“The [Wolverine] mascot is scary and ugly,†said Amberlyn Oldham, president of the Student Government Association (SGA) at the Feb. 15 meeting.
Oldham suggested a new mascot – which includes all the paraphernalia that goes along with remaking it – would cost about $4,000. There would also be a contest for a new name.
Also at the meeting, student organizations were told to change their mission statements if the work they were doing differs from the original statements.
“Make sure you’re doing what your organization is supposed to be doing,†Oldham said.
Student organizations also must put in their fall semester budgets on the Wesley Involvement site by March 15 at 4 p.m.
The deadline for assembling health kits for Haiti was extended to Feb. 22.
Dr. Mark Pruett-Barnett, chaplain, encouraged student organizations to help put together the kits that include soap, band-aids, washcloths, combs, toothbrushes, towels and fingernail clippers, all in a gallon Ziploc bag.
“The people [of Haiti] will be needing them for a long time,†Pruett-Barnett said.
