To clear up rumors that campus security shares student addresses with the Dover Police Dept., Walter Beaupre, director of safety and security, and Lt. Paul Bernat of Dover Police attended the SGA meeting on Oct. 19.
Bernat said that this rumor was false. He admitted, however, that he and Beaupre e-mail back and forth about important information.
Some students said that the feel that the police are missing when fights happen, but are there quickly when a party gets out of control.
Sometimes it is difficult to come later in the night, Bernat said. “I encourage you guys to call us†if something bad happens, he said.
There was a suggestion by the SGA executive board to buy another change machine for the underground.
Although the change machine is filled twice a week, the executive board said students do not get enough quarters to do their laundry
A machine costs $1,975, including $500 for quarters.
The motion to buy another change machine was voted on, but denied with ten people opposing the idea and only six people voting to approve it. Eight people also abstained from voting.
Students also have concerns with the cafeteria.
Many students have said that the people manning the food stations in the cafeteria become rude or angry if students ask for only an individual food item.
Joe Skis, head of the food committee, talked to the chefs and reported that it should not be a problem for students to get individual food items from different stations.
Skis also said the head chef, Peter Buoncristiano, wants students to tell him what they don’t like about the food so they can improve it.
By the end of the year, students may get to use to-go containers for all meals.
It was discussed whether freshmen, students with 29 credits or less, should be able to purchase a parking pass or not.
Because freshmen usually have early classes, they fill up the parking spaces before the upperclassmen arrive on campus.
However, many students have chosen Wesley College because freshmen are allowed to park on campus.
An idea was brought up that perhaps there can be a certain amount of parking passes available for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors.
Darfur Now was approved as a recognized organization. The organization will have different fundraisers and donate the money to helpdarfurnow.org.
The money Darfur Now raises will help genocide victims in Darfur by providing them with food and medical supplies.
Their fundraiser goals are $350 for this semester and $600 for next semester.
The new constitution was sent out to organizations for review, but because the SGA meeting on Nov. 9 was canceled there has still not been proposed any amendments to it yet.
