Abdul Hameed resigned as vice president of the Student Government Association on Sept. 28.
“I had too much on my plate,†Hameed said. “It is hard balancing so many things and doing well in them. I could not let SGA become my prime concern.â€
Joe Skis and Santina Beckweth were nominated for the position during that meeting.
The following week, Skis was announced as the new vice president.
A new constitution for the SGA is currently going through review and will come up for approval sometime in November.
Darfur Now asked SGA to recognize it. The organization, which helps genocide victims in the Darfur region of Sudan, plans to raise money and buy food and medical supplies for the cause. They look to raise $750 for this semester and $1,200 for next semester.
The winners of the Homecoming parade also were announced.
Sigma Phi Sigma won first price in both the float and performance contests. The Dance Team also shared the first place prize in the performance contest.
The Psychology Club won the banner contest, and Sigma Phi Sigma took second place.
The Homecoming committee is already being set up for next year.
